Super Beef Stew


  • 500grams rump steak
  • 2 medium onions diced
  • 3 carrots peeled and chopped to 20mm
  • hand full off peas
  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • 2 cups gravy
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 3 large potatoes
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • descent scrape of butter


  • Step 1First thing you need someone at camp or get back early!
  • Step 2Use deep fry pan or pot no lid. If using camp oven time will be reduced need to check regularly or use with lid open!
  • Step 3Cut potatoes into cubs.
  • Step 4Brown onions with oil. Remove to cool and cool pan.
  • Step 5Add steak to cover bottom of pan. Add carrots, peas, salt and pepper with 2 beef stock cubes. Add water to just cover. Top up water if required to keep covered. Simmer for 2 hours or until meat is soft.
  • Step 640 minutes before you think is ready. Start boiling potatoes. Remove beef and thicken with gravy. Once boiled put beef back into pan or pot and simmer until served!
  • Step 7Mash Potatoes with butter and chicken stock cube. Mash should come out creamy. Extra butter can be added or milk.
  • Step 8Serve mash on bottom with stew on top!
  • Step 9Wicket cold night feed!
  • Step 10Can also be done with chops.
  • Step 11Good luck!

  • Step 13You wont be disappointed. Can do a couple of nights if put in the fridge!
  • Step 14Be quicker in the camp over due to the lid!
