 Yarrawonga BBQ Cruise VIC

Submitted: Sunday, Mar 08, 2009 at 00:00
Sunday we spent on the beautiful Murray River at Yarrawonga in Victoria.

From Wagga via Lockhart and its classic old verandahs in the main street, through Walbundrie and Brocklesby to Howlong for a morning tea stop.

Cross into Mexico at Howlong then follow the Murray through Corowa to Mulwala and over the winding up-and-down bridge to Yarrawonga. Forgot about it being a long weekend in Victoria and Yarrawonga was very busy! Ski boats and jetskis everywhere...

Down to the park and onto the Paradise Queen for a lunch cruise. $22 for lunch and 1.5hr cruise seemed good value! The skipper Brian was full of smart comments and good info as we circled a section of Lake Mulwala over lunch and a cold ale. Amazing to see some of the magnificent homes on the NSW side. Reminded us of the Gold Coast. Made our way through the flooded gums, standing like skeletons in the lake, past heaps of fishermen in their bass boats looking for tea.

Had a quick look at the Clock Museum (not a good place with little kids) and an impromptu trip through the Convent across the road thanks to the resident caretaker and we were on the way home, again stopping for a break in Howlong.

Can recommend it as an easy way to spend a Sunday...

By the way if you're keen, apparently you can buy the boat and the business for $620K
