City of Rockingham Waikiki Triathlon 08/09 TriSeries Race 3

Event Location: Waikiki Beach – Corner of Safety Bay Rd and Malibu Rd Safety Bay.

Pursuit 750m 20km 5km

Being a new member of the North Coast Tri Club (well I have been a member for a few months however have not attended any of their training or clucb events) I received an email inviting me to attend the cycling training held at a local school on Wedensday nights. I decided to make the effort and attend during the week. I was great to meet some of the others and have a bash on the trainers - this is a different type of workout to my usual earlier morning rides our around 30km. I also decided to give the running training a go (as my dislike of running is just not egtting any better) on Thursday evening at Flinders Park, this was the 42 degree day for those that live in Perth and yes I still went along with about 30-40 others. I did the traning which I am sure will be benificial for me over time.

So it was with this new training under my belt and doing 2 training sessions each doy for the week that I went done and competed in this event.

My results are as below:

So the net result was slower in the swim - there were a number of people in the way and we also had a run section to do the swim was in two parts a 500m out to the beach run around some flags and then back out for 250m so this may have something to do with the speed.

However the bike and that run thing were better even with the head wind and slightly hillier course than the last event. So the club training must be helping I will keep going this week and see how it pans out in the Australia Day Tri this next weekend.
