Another weekend and another event in the now getting very busy schedule with this being the first event of a three weekend in a row haul for me.
This event held in the south of the river suburb of North Coogee was excellent. The facilites were good, parking was ok and the
weather
was not too bad with a bit of a breeze picking up during the bike leg.
My only complaint (if you can call it one) is the number of turns in the bike stage. Being that the bike is my favored leg it was a little difficult to negotiate the 3 x 180 deg & 7 x 90 deg turns in the 5 km course. So having to do 6 laps of this course to complete the 30km stage was a bit painful being in and out of position all the time to manage the turns (18 x 180 deg and 42 x 90 deg).
Apart from the turns in the bike stage the rest of the course was great. I entered the Super Sprint event, Swim 1km, Bike 30km and Run 6km. The swim was a single 1km long straight swim with the wind/swell, bike with bends as mentioned already and the run a 3 lap 2 kms course.
I decided today I was really going to hit the bike leg as hard as I could even with the turns and had a good ride place 4/30 in the category for this stage. If it had been straighter I would have placed a little higher as I do not turn all that well on the Tri bike.
I had to attend this event alone as the rest of the family had the ballet and market commitments so no photos from this day.
My results are as follows: 10/30 Overall in Category 40-49
Swim + transition to bike: 17:28
Cycle + transition to run: 52:56
Run: 31.13
Overall total time 1:41:37
Gee I wish I could fix the run leg only 17 secs between 8th and 10th and I could have saved this in the transition or the run easily. Ah the joy of competition!
Note to Self: Take your elastic laces for the running shoes - it takes too long to tie laces - Why did I leave the laces at home.......
Now working on getting ready for next Saturdays event being the
Donnybrook
Marathon. I am entering this as a team of two with my mate Clyde, I have also been asked to run for another team so my stages for next weekend are 36km bike, 1.4km swim, 8km walk (yes one foot on the ground butt wiggle walking - not pretty) and a 12km run for another team.
