If you have used multiple browsers on your computer you may have noticed how much better Internet Explorer renders fonts on the screen. This is true for any other web browser such as Firefox or Opera.

Well for those that use other browsers in Windows XP there is a solution, all you have to do is enable ClearType. Here are the directions:
1. Right client on the desktop and select Properties
Select the Effects button
Select the Effects button
2. Click on the Appearance tab and choose the Effects... button.

3. In the 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:' choose ClearType.
Select ClearType
Select ClearType

4. Click OK and Apply.

Now open up your non IE browser and you will notice how smooth the results are. This will also change all you windows desktop and application windows however the effect is a much cleaner font in any case. If you want to turn it off simply select Standard on the selection screen.
