My latest effort at video editing takes in the
Canning Stock Route from my camp 17 kilometres west of the Canning in the dunes of the Helena Springs Track through to Well 37. There are some huge dunes to be crossed, and a lot of sensational desert Country. Mr Tobin’s Grave at Well 40, the expanse of Tobin Lake, Well 38 and its rock engravings and rock holes and the haunted well at Well 37.
Hopefully it will give a bit of an indication as to what it's like to tackle the monster dunes of the Canning.
Yes, I've just realised I've incorrectly labelled Well 40. It should be Well 37 with the graves of Chinaman, Shoesmith and others. I'll fix it up a little later on.

Great video Mick. We were about a week behind you with an ultimate in tow travelling north. Only one dune got us -- for a half hour, the second last one. We followed a 14 strong tag along who knew nothing about tyre pressures and they smashed that dune to pieces.

When we hit Well 5, I dropped the pressures to 12 front, 15 rear, and 12 on the camper. Was done hot, and we just took our time.
No dunes presented a problem, and if we got caught, it was always the drivers fault, ie 1/2 napping, and taking it easy.

Was indeed an interesting drive down through that section. Experience that money just can't buy.
Photo's are good but the video really does bring the trip to life, well done.
BTW the dunes were even more challenging with my 'skinny tyres'..lol

Nice video Mick, I was wondering what tyre pressures you were running ?
Reply: Hi Bucky, I was going to put that on the video credits as well. They varied all days. Average was 20-22 front and 26 rear (These are hot temps) and dropped them accordingly for the big sand dunes. Even lower for serious corrugations later on. Needless to say, my compressor set-up is a key consideration on the new rig. Cheers Mick
