Mt Dare
This area is for roads north of Mt Dare to Alice Springs.
Travel in this area is good. Care must be taken as there has been many accidents in this region, mostly due to speed and inexperience, slow down!
Drive according to track conditions, accidents in the Outback nearly always results in a roll over, not a good way to end to a holiday or worse still your life!
Cool to warm days can be expected, low 20's with an overnight low around 0 - 5 deg, sub zero isn't unusual.
Call Mt Dare Hotel for more info, 08 8670 7835 or www.mtdare.com.au
For roads to the South of Mt Dare see the

| Alice Springs to Finke (OLD GHAN TRACK) | Open 4WD |
Good through to Maryvale with the odd rough section. Rough and corrugated from Rodinga Siding to Finke on the old railway line, slow and undulating along the old road now the “Finke Desert Race Track”. Beware of oncoming traffic; beware of abandoned cars, severe washouts & rutting where the race track crosses the main track. 4x4 recommended. (5 hr, 220 km)

| Alice Springs to Old Andado | Open 4WD |
The drive through the Rodinga Range is quite spectacular in the morning or afternoon. This is definitely a worthwhile alternative way to go south (or north). High Clearance 4x4 recommended (5 hr 320 km).

| Lambert Centre | Open 4WD |
The 12km drive is slow and a bit sandy; allow at least an hour to return to the Kulgera – Finke rd. There’s a flag pole that looks like it belongs in Canberra and marks the geographical centre of Aus, this track is passable by 4x4 only. (1 hr, 24 km)

Check with Mt Dare
This is one of the outback’s picturesque drives through the Finke River floodout, this track is OK but slow. Molly Clarke pops in from time to time but if you miss her caretakers welcome you to have a look around or camp. The old homestead is like a living museum; watch out for Cattle. 4x4 recommended, (2 hr, 100 km).
