|Edition 359: 10 November 2014|
Hi ExplorOz Reader,
Members Photo Comp - Entries to the 2015 Photo Comp are now open! The theme is "The Rustic Outback", so think windmills, old vehicles in paddocks, ruins, quaint and quirky outback signs etc. If you don't have the perfect shot, what a great excuse to head into the outback and take a fresh new photo. As usual, a prize from ExplorOz is awarded to the winning photographer, plus the scene captured in the photo will be used as the design for a unique and collectible art piece created by Jan's Country Art. Jan will produce a hand-painted saw blade that will be the major prize in a raffle drawn at the 2015 ExplorOz Members National Gathering. To participate, you'll need to be a Member in order to submit your photo as a blog. Tag your blog entry to the Photo Comp 2015 category to enter. Competition is now open and closes 1st February 2015.
| ||Tip of the Week - In today’s Internet-driven world, customers have more power than ever. An angry customer has the potential to tell thousands of people via social networks and communities. However consider the potential repercussions before you post critical or embarrassing comments. Make sure your facts are correct and can be supported. Libelous statements
disguised as opinion can leave you liable to be sued. To best protect you we operate a set of Forum Rules that ensures unnecessary legal complications do not arise from Forum discussions. In particular, this means you must avoid posting with the intent to "warn others" to stay away from a named brand or business. Instead, try using your own Facebook page, their Facebook page, or other websites that are setup for the purpose of collecting such comments. |
||Bloomin' News - Southern Cross (Xanthosia sp) evokes images of Australian skies, and this wildflower is well named. A small shrub or herb, it bears small white, pinkish or pale green flowers arranged in the shape of a cross. While it is well known from the SW of Western Australia, species of Xanthosia occur in all states except the NT. There are only 20 species of Xanthosia in the world and they are only found in Australia. Currently there is only one lonely photo of this little Aussie in the Wildflowers database – maybe you have some photos that you could add?|
