During the wet season flash flooding can close sections of the Bruce highway for several hours to several days, please check with local Authorities for up to the minute conditions.
Some flood peaks can pass within an hour.

 Burke Developmental Road

All unsealed Carpentaria Shire Roads are currently closed to prevent damage or due to flooding.

Heavy Rain May close roads at any time.

Cairns to Karumba via the Athertons,Chillagoe along the bulldust track called the Burke Developmental Road in the lower region of the Cape York Peninsula. Passing Staaten River NP, Mitchell and Alice NP and Dorunda on-route to Karumba and the Gulf. See trek notes for more detailed information. Storm activity in the area can close roads without warning.

 Peninsula Development Road

PENINSULA DEVELOPMENTAL ROAD as at 10:00 am 30 JANUARY 2009 from Lakeland to Weipa due to flooding at various crossings with a 5 tonne local access load limit elsewhere. [Advice received from Department of Main roads.]

Significant fines can be imposed for breaches of restricted alcohol limits. If you are planning a trip that may take you to the Far North of Queensland please check before you leave to avoid embarassment by calling 1300 789 000

PLEASE NOTE THIS REGION IS RECOMMENDED TO 4WD VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES.

Frenchmans Track alt route to Lockhart River.Unknown Permission required to traverse this road.
Pascoe River crossing is deep and rough. Northern Bank of Pascoe River is steep and currently sandy after a massive flood. If going up this bank you will need very low tyre pressures and traction assistance or a winch. (Until the volume of traffic finds the rock base again) Please leave feedback if you have current info.

Telegraph RdCaution High clearance well prepared vehicles only.standard 4wd with extreme care and snorkel. Conditions can change rapidly with traffic and rain.

Nolans Brook is deep and has soft sandy bottom - cross at own risk. But passable with snorkel and care. Vehicles have bogged here towing trailers and filled up with water - ensure laptops cameras fridges and valuable items are above water level as a precaution.
