Making a sand anchor?

Using the spare wheel is good if the groung is sanding but what about if the groung is a bit hard.

Can any one suggest an other technique to anchor in the ground?
I do not like single pickets being driven in the ground because this is hard work.

Is there a sand anchor whioch will work for harder surfaces?
