Looking for some
feedback regarding
caravan windows.
We are looking to get a new van built but our cuurent van has the Dometic windows which we dont like,and here is the reason why we dont like them.
When the window is open and you want to shut it you have to drop down the fly screen and anything hanging around outside flies in,also the fly screen just sits in a track which after time just pops out,may seem a bit trivial but when your on the road full time and up in the tropics it can be a pain.
So what about the Aussie Traveller wind out windows,has anybody got them in their van and if so what do you think of them.

In my last van I had the slide up down combo Blind and Flyscreen, which I presume is the ones you don't like. I thought they were the best system I've ever had. The van was 6 years old when we sold it and they never gave any problems.
Currently have the wind out version with standard flyscreens and curtains. A right pain.

Have seen the Dometic windows you speak of and I would hate to have them too, we have a
caravan going on 10 years old, we have the Camec or Australite windows and they have been great would not like any other.
When you order make sure you get double Glazed worth the Extra, am sure the Camec ones are still available.

Aussie Traveller have both the Camec and the European style windows and doors.

I thought I'd jump on this one.....you say..(but when your on the road full time and up in the tropics it can be a pain.) ....don't you mean a PANE ... your talking about windows....lmao.

We have the dometic windows and if in the middle of bug/fly country we open and close the windows from the outside.
To open, release the catches and then do the screens up - from the outside lift up the window to desired height.
To close, Drop windows from outside then open screen and lock windows from the inside.
This routine is a bit of a pain but works if bugs/flys are bad. Normally we are just quick to open and shut them before bugs get in.
We like the dometic windows because of the inbuilt screens and use them to keep sun out or for privacy

Agree with you Adam that is exactly what we do, good for half and half but in some
places you need to get it setup before dark otherwise the poor sod outside will be eaten alive. They are midge proof screens on ours which helps in the sandfly areas.
