Darling River Run

Hi

We spent a week over easter at Corynia and Trilby Stations roads are no problem unless it rains heavily then it becomes very slippery !.
The Darling has hardly any flow in it at the moment wasnt even worth putting the canoe in for a paddle, but the area is rich in history.

We drove Bourke, Louth, Tilpa to Wilcannia
a couple af weeks ago with a 100 series cruiser and an on road van, which is fairly well built.
The road on the eastern side of the river was grade a few weeks prior and was quite good with a few patches of corrigations.
As mentioned, the river is very low, but as it was our first visit it was still a great drive.
Didn't let any air out of the van tyres the first day, did the second day and would highly recommend you do so and travel at a comfortable speed to take in the sights.

The river started flowing again today with pretty good volumes going through. It will take another day to get down to Louth but I am pretty confident they will have good flows right through.

Hi Di & Darby

We were back out there a week or so ago. As mentioned earlier in the thread, river levels down quite significantly. There was a small amount of rain around Louth that settled the dust.

You’ll have no problem with vehicle and van in normal conditions.

If you haven’t visited the area before, take your time to stop off in Louth, camp at the river or at Trilby Station (great spot and hosts ). And if you get a chance take a look on the monument in the cemetery at Louth, Dave at the pub can assist. I wrote something about it here…Love in the Outback
