Hi all,

Has anyone here had any experience with Hankook A/T tyres.. I am considering them as an option for my 60 series 'cruiser... Any advice will be appreciated.

G`day Robb
We have been using Hankook tyres on our L/C 100 series for a couple of tyre changes. We had been using the ROF3 ten ply. LT 235/85 R16. We are now using the ROF4 ten ply LT235/R16. Our application involves a lot of towing of trailers off road. Our engineering business does service work for Parks Victoria among other things. We have consintantly averaged 80,000 klms per set of tyres. With the thicker walls the ride is a lot firmer, but the bum of the L/C isn`t pushed around.

Keep wandering

Bob,
When I bought my Jackaroo it had Hankooks and they had absolutely no road holding on wet bitumen. I am due for a new set of tyres later this year and am looking at what is available. How have you found Hankooks on wet bitumen? It was hard to judge the set I had. They had been on the Jack several years, as the previous owner only did a couple of thousand ks each year. No doubt they were hard and lost some grip.

I have Hankooks and reckon they are an excellent value tyre. I am surprised at the comment on wet weather handling as they seem fine to me. We went down the Canning last year. Had 3 Landcruisers all shod with Hankooks and not a puncture. Guest 4WD in Melbourne use them on their tour vehicles and reckon they are OK too. At about $180 per tyre they are reasonably priced and last as well as some of the better known brands.

Hiya Robb,

I put AT Hankooks on my Hilux about 20,000 ago & very satisfied. I do probably 60/20/20 on road/beach/rough dirt respectively and have had no dramas in the wet either. I paid about 145 for mine (31 x 10.5) & would buy them again.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments. As I said in my first comment that the Hankooks on the Jack were several years old and probably old and hard. The Jack had only travelled 100,000ks in 11 years. The tyres could be up to eight years old. Next trip we are doing NT and want to be sure I have made a good choice in tyres.
