Royce......I have done some homework on this recently.....there is a huge difference in the wavelength for the AM and FM stations
around OZ, so any aerial you use is a huge compromise! I have had news radio problems with my new car (Jackaroo Diesel - Eurovox unit within) - have fixed it by rigging an aux aerial system, for the outback. Made a bracket for the spare wheel, and connected a 9 gain electrophone (the 3 piece modular unit), via some good quality coax (like used for CB) right to the back of the radio - vast improvement on reception quality. Some manufacturers need dragging through the bush - a car marketed as the solution for all outback trips, but when you get there, you can't receive anything. Cheerz....Darian
