I need to tell you about Russell, the owner and snake man from Planet Earth Adventures CP in Mt Surprise. We've been here a couple of times, and when I got the dreaded call that Mum was very sick while at Karumba on the Gulf we decided to head to Mt Surprise, leave the van with Russell and fly out of Cairns to get home. We got back today to find that Russell will not accept a cent for looking after the van and having power hooked up the whole time. We travel the country, and it is blokes like Russell that make our country great. If you travel through, stay at the CP or just drop in for a burger or coffee and tell Russell that Brownie sent you. That way he might know just how much I appreciate him. Cheers, Brownie2

Great Aussie hospitality, and empathy for someone elses situation.
If ever travelling that way to the tip I will be sure to stay.

What a wonderful sentiment Brownie.

This is obviously one of those serendipitous moments where the stars align.

Russell must be one of those quintessential outback characters who make our country so great. You also rank up there because you appreciate rather than take advantage of it.

More power to the "givers"

Cheers

Anthony

Came back through Mt Surprise, Brownie, on way home from Granite Gorge in late June.

Impressed with the place, though didn't stop.......better put it on the itinerary for the next trip.

Great story, good bit of advertising for Russell's business.

We have also found Mt Surprise to be a friendly place to stay with great service.
We stayed at Bedrock Village CP and went on their Lava Tube tour which was an excellent day out with great service.

Would recommend Mt Surprise to anyone passing through. Take a break and support the town that actually gives service to travellers such as ourselves

We were in Mt Surprise mid last year and stayed at Planet Earth Adventure CP. and had 2 great dinners with Russell (what a cook he is!!!), pleased to see he has his snake show on again.
Mt. Surprise was a great (and awesome) surprise for us and certainly Russell's hospitality added to a great experience. He runs the place on his own and makes his guests feel very welcome.
We will be stopping at Russell's park when we go by again.
Cheers

Rob.

It was a magic surprise to us too, we stayed there three nights and planned for less but just had to stay on. We stayed at Bedrock and that was fantastic too, did the Savannahlander train trip to Einasleigh which was just great, check out the Corvette in the shed at the pub there, and the Lava tube tour and walked around town. South African GT Falcon in the back of the shop there, owned by the Einasleigh publican too, was a huge surprise. Overall well worth a leisurely stop.
