RenMark Yunta Arkaroola via back way

A few weeks ago I asked about going from Renmark to Arkaroola via back way thru Yunta.

Inaccurate or Out of date maps, Gpses and advice make planning tricky so one needs to be flexible !

Well we completed the route and it worked out quite well and hear are a few notes.




We began this trip from the old custom house on Murray saturday morning, camping could have been free but we paid $6 ahead and camped on the edge of Murray with long drop toilets as only facilities (Lovely).
Big signs said "Gas Fires Only" , I would have been tempted to light a real fire as others have clearly done but in a last minute change of kit I had decided to take a gas fire (and it worked - just).


OVERALL this 2 day trip went as follows (mostly names are homesteads).

we went via Renmark (Cheap fuel and Mc Cafe)
Renmark around north of Murrray and then north threw Danggali park.
Hypurna (abandoned homestead to check out - but has signs saying Abspectos)
Canopus (no access - free camps about 2km away at end of runway)
Morgan Vale (Road signs now point the way to Yunta.)
Oakbank Outstation (lots of Goats)
Quondong Vale
Lilydale
Tiverton
Yunta (nothing there but fuel)

Waukaringa ruins (Free camp Sunday, almost no firewood) - 4wding up hilltops out back in old gold mine area.

Curnamona
Note - our 2 gpses said go left near Curnamona (20km shorter than via Frome Downs but we went right to Frome Downs.)

Past Frome Downs (No public access)

Arkaroola ($25 bush camp Monday)

Roads were mostly dry and hence easy 2wd - only 4wd fun was out back of Waukaringa ruins

Note I noticed new signs before Danggali reading "OUTBACK ROADS 80kmh max
