Have been there quite a number of times - as in other replies check the cost of taking your camper on "the world's most expensive ferry"! - Also as mentioned you need at least a week to have a good look - these days you can traverse the island on bitumen - not much of a 4WD experience as in the past! Some "must see's" - Seal Bay, Flinders Chase - all attractions,
Hanson Bay - a great place to stay - it's near Flinders Chase - in fact the whole Island is great - pretty wild on the Southern side - calmer on the North side - the Southern Ocean is quite awsome in winter! - don't forget to lift your index finger when you see a car comming in the opposite direction - it's the "island thing to do" - you'll see what I mean almost straight after you get there!
Cheers!
