Glind shower in 79 series Cruiser?

Has anyone mounted a glind shower unit in a 79 series turbo Cruiser? If so how did you do it? - there just doesn't appear to be enough room.

Not sure about the Glind unit, but I was browsing the EO shop last night and noticed they sell the Twine showers (which I have and can highly recommend because of the copper....not plastic....heat exchanger). They also had adaptor kits to enable fitting to a range of current model Toyotas and I reckon the 79 series was amongst them.

Thanks Roachie but the Glind is from previous vehicle. I'm not looking for a new unit. Just transplanting it. Also the Glind heat exchanger isn't plastic - the outer casing is made of the same stuff as most radiator top and bottom tanks (glass filled nylon 66 according to their web site). I assume inside is copper - just a pretty exterior. In any case as they say - they've never had a claim against them so they must be OK. But I don't want to get into a bun fight regarding which is better - I'm sure they are both fine. I'm just after info on how to fit the bugger under the bonnet!

Which item can't you mount - the heat exchanger or the pump?

I was unable to find a place under the bonnet for my pump and ended up mounting it behind the bull bar.

Thanks Penguin. The pump was certainly the major problem. Behind the bar was an option but I was hoping to keep everything under the bonnet to keep hose lengths to a minimum. I guess it just isn't possible. Incidentally where did you put the heat exchanger and have you found it OK there?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that mine is an 80 series petrol. The heat exchanger mounts neatly on the firewall with the kit provided (by Twine). Glind is very similar from memory.

The extra lengths of hose don't seem to matter. Always get a good stream of pretty hot water out of it.

Yeah Penguin - maybe you should have mentioned yours is an 80. I did specify the vehicle type for a reason. Fitting to an 80 is a piece of pi$$ - heaps of room under there for both pump and exchanger - you shouldn't have needed to put the pump behind the bullbar.

Not quite that easy. There isn't really any room for the pump with ABS taking up most of the space near the firewall on the passenger's side and the second battery at the front on the driver's side. I agonised over it for ages before giving up!

Not sure which one it was and conciquentlly my reponse is probally going to be of no use whatsoever! But here we go.
I went traveling with some people who had a kitted out 79 series, they had a shower they had installed I'm pretty sure by ARB. I had the opertunity of using it and it was actually too hot!
But it was all neatly fitted under the bonnet with all the other gear they had. So it is at least possible. That's about all I'm good for on this one, sorry!

In my 78 series, I've got the pump mounted on a plate which is bolted to three existing captive nuts on the inside of the l/h mudguard, just behind the headlight. Heat exchanger is mounted on the seam of the firewall, just behind the battery, using home made bracket (just a small piece of angle iron). I also had to make an adaptor for the water hose, and get rid of the special piece which is a different size each end. I can put photos up somewhere in a day or two if you want.

I have seen the heat exchange unit mounted over the rocker cover, just back from the oil filler cap. The bracket was bolted to the inlet manifold and the other end to the exhaust manifold. The pump was mounted vertical near the passenger fire wall.
