positioning redarc solenoid in gu

2nd tray & batt is in,solenoid in hand looking for a 'flat' area to fit the bugger.
a)does it have to be near main batt?
b)will it mind getting showered with mud occasionally?(it will be siliconed)

3.0 OR 4.2TD? 4.2 Has cruise std now and I relocated it down 30mm which left a flat area on the firewall for installation. No! it would not have to be near the battery but accessibility would need to be considered.

fitted mine near the second batteryfar RHS theres a panel there and already has holes in it to fit the redarc.

The Instructions say to mount it as close as practical, to the main start battery!
I mounted mine between the start battery and fire wall, made an adaptor bracket out of flatbar and used existing holes! let me know if you want some photos?

I went to the trouble of fabricating a bracket for the isolator to bolt into some captive nuts already in the R/Hand guard, between fusebox and firewall. Ready to fit all up then found that isolator will bolt straight into two of the captive nuts, one 6mm and the other 8mm I think. Two hours fabrication, threw away the bracket and installed in 5 minutes, and as close to original battery as it would get, wish someone had posted this earlier.

Mines a 4.5 Petrol Patrol , and my Redarc is as close as I can get it to the battery. In fact , a matter on inches.

From memory , its bolted to the Suspension tower , just behind the battery , using a bolt that was there , with just a nut screwed down.
