Sidney, Darlin harba and Simba

Submitted: Wednesday, Jun 02, 2004 at 17:25

Andrew & Jen (Melb)

We are going to Sidney tomorrow to see a show about a lion and staying at Darlin harba. I think it is a dirty weekend (haven't asked Jen yet) as we are leaving the kids at home and are booked into a swish hotel. I haven't been to a city for a holiday for a long time and thought that there might not be much to do there other than see the show. We are even flying there - leaving the Toyota at home. Do you reckon you could buy opals there? Any good spots to see?

How the hell are you all?

Plenty to see in Sinee, Darling harbour has a lot, take a ride on tram(not a big deal to you victorians), or a ferry or Hydrofoil ride to Manly. Go to top of Centrepoint for a good view.

Don't forget all the chinese eateries in Dixon???? street, not far from the harbour.

Country looks alright here at moment with that rain a month ago. Boys mustered that opal country today, had to remind them that they were looking for cattle, not opal!!!

Hope all are well, as we are. Retirement looking better everyday....

Hooroo...

Ahh the Opal country - last holiday Jen said the best part was opal fossicking in the countryside. Whats this about Retirement? Chinese eateries sound great - one advantage of being in a big city!

Depends how long you got. Aquarium at D Harbour is great, The Rocks for our history, if you are staying at Dharbour there is a good opal shop on pyrmont bridge Rd west of maritime Museum, You can get a ferry from D/ Harbour to Circular Quay to see the Rocks. The Simba show is quit spectacular, so enjoy your dirty w/end if Jen lets you.

I will be good to have a few days away - no kids - half the people I have told have said about us leaving the kids behind and how they would love the show - probably would but the $$$$$$. Tis not like I am a farmer or anything! Have heard the Rocks is great - might leave the Opal type rocks in the store again!

Andrew and Jen, hope the durty weekend goes well. Think the double swag may be a bit bulky in the cabin on the way for the flyin part. Liked the Powerhouse Museum ourselves. Can't remember if there was anything durty last time we were there........... Ohh, you could look out for the Oxford Street offers I guess colourful but hardly call them opals or treasures.

How is Jen going to cope without the children and having to put up with you the whole weekend. Gosh, she will be stressed. I think you should go out and buy her the biggest and most expensive opal and diamond encrusted ring she can find. On top of that, I think anice big natural pearl necklace would then set it off.
Don't get lost. A nice harbour cruise should be nice but don't forget the quells.
