Mrs D, is good to bring up the issue and focus on the post October 2000 3.0 TD Patrol. It is interesting to note that 4x4
Australia has acknowledged their reply in last months issue to a letter on that model had some reader
feedback.
Well it may again too but they tend to self excuse their response saying that Nissan increased the oil capacity and anyone experiencing problems should call their dealer or Nissan on 03 9797 4111. One wonders how long they will honour their side of things?
They are still making excuses by the look of things in 4x4
Australia, after acknowledging "a few engine problems" in pre October 3.0 litre vehicles

John,
I think the letter you're referring to was one that I wrote into them. Needless to say I (& many others) was astounded at their response that they'd never heard of the 3.0l having had problems.
In the latest issue they were talking about a lengthy trip they did (I think it was from
Melbourne to WA). One of the convoy was a 3.0l Nissan and it blew up in
Victoria. Another Nissan did a 5th gear. Both of these are well known problems, but they STILL didn't make any mention of these issues. Who said anything about wearing blinkers when it comes to their advertisers' products??

Roachie,
I was tickled with that too that one sector of the magazine could not know what is said in the other even though the original claims to be an editor. To be fair it did mention the Yota diff too in the article but it seems that some of the dogs b***s are airbrushed out. They did want to give Nissan the credit for getting it back
on the road. Obviously an early model mate.......
Rather a 4.2 TDI
