diesel fuel

Steve

I have read in the paper that Mobil intend to increse the sulphur content in diesel fuel.Are their any fuel experts out there that know the reasons and consequences for diesel motors.

i might be wrong steve, but i was pretty sure theat australia had to reduce the sulphur content within the next couple of years to meet Euro standards.

Steve, Mobil will be staying at the current level of 500 ppm for a while, they have sort and recieved an exemption from the legislation reducing sulphur in diesel fuel. Yes, the change to low suphur diesel will affect older diesel engines. The low sulphur diesel will react with the seals in older diesels. I think that when introduced in Qld, BP compensated those with older diesels on production of receipts etc. Don't hold me to that though. Some forum users from Qld may be able to expand on that. From memory, diesels made after 96 SHOULD be OK. Hope this helps.
