Vibration at 60-90 km/h

Hi all

On the bitumen during my recent trip I noticed a vibration in the Cruiser between 60 and 90 km/h. Checked the prop shafts but all joints are nice and tight. Maybe just wheel balance?? Hard to get that checked up here!! Can't notice it on unsealed roads, so I'll stay off the bitumen until I work it out LOL. There was no shake in the steering wheel. Any ideas?

Sounds like a lumpy tyre or a rear wheel weight to me mate.

Might be onto something there. I have 3 patches on the inside of one of the rear tyres, and haven't had it rebalanced. Could have knocked off a wheel weight when I used the bead breaker, too. Guess I'll have to fork out for a balance next time I hit the big smoke.

Re the dishes, yeah I've got them done, and the washing. But the house looks like one of those places you see on Today Tonight showing the tenants from hell. Can't get the doors shut when I go to work!! SWMBO will be back on July 17th, so I have 2 weeks to sort it out. Anyone want 2 kids for a fortnight????

Sounds like it might be time to trade up to a Patrol to me....LOL
Other than that; i suggest you stay off the bitumen......bloody good idea anyway in my book.

firstly, get wheels rebalanced.

Then
Try your caster bushes, they could be worn.. Try swapping tires front to rear, or if possible, try with another car, see if it goes. Also try control arm bushes, see how you go...

You said you had used a beadbreaker...... If you took your tyre off then refitted it and it went into a diff spot on the rim you could have upset the balance.... But at 60 - 90kmh i would have thought it didnt matter..????

Agree its most likely when you took the tyre off but just for something entirely different, I was getting a vibrating type noise (rather than a vibrating feel) at around 80ks. Took me ages to find it. In the end, it was wind getting under the rear number plate. Bent the plate out about half an inch & the noise stopped ANZ it cost me nothing. Doubt it will be this simple but at least it's something else to look at.
