Tyre size on 16 X 6 J Rim

Submitted: Friday, Jul 02, 2004 at 08:08

Seanny

Hello,

Thanks for all the great information and links to other sites. My question is - what is the largest tyre, width and wall height, that can be fitted to a 16 X 6J one piece steel rim. And what is the overall heighht of the tyre??

These will be on the van, and due to fouling etc, I cannot match rim width with the Cruiser, but I am looking at matching tyre height. EG a 7.50 X16 = 31 inches. Correct me if I am wrong. :-))

Thanks in advance if I do not get back for a day or two. . . .

Hi Seanny,

Just looking at a BFG A/T pdf file I have, the largest that they recommend on a 16x6 rim is a 235/85R16. Height is 31.8".

Then you have the 225/75R16 at a height of 29.4". They go down in height from there.

Cruisers run 265/75 or 275/70, don't they? The 265/75 is 31.8" tall and the 275/70 is 31.3" tall.

Hope this helps!
