toyota hilux advice

hi everyone,
im looking at getting my first 4x4 (second hand)i plan to use it for trips away mostly sand dune and beach driving.
ive been looking at hiluxes whats the fuel consumptioln like for a 2.4l petrol, 2.7 petrol, or diesel

or are there any other better 4x4s for around $10,000?

any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I picked up my 1992 Jackaroo(Current shape) for 10,000. It doesnt mind the sand. 3.2 litre v6 uses 12.8,13.8L/100k open road and a hell of a lot more in the sand 18L/100k plus. But with the extra power it makes driving the sand a breeze. Comfortable and with decent seats in the back. Well worth the money.

Have a 2.4 petrol hilux and have found it an excellent car for what we do . worst economy is about 12.5 l per 100 , we fitted extactors and a 2'' system and found this improved our low down torque a bit , works very well in the bush , NW Qld , and tows our boat fine , in heavy sand you will find yourself in low range probably more than you will like , I only have the dry river beds out here as an example though , not a firmer packed beach . Hope this helps some any way .
