I took the Friday off that weekend to either go Melb. or start the bathroom renovation, i actually started the reno about 16 months ago, by knocking a hole in the wall to have a look behind, hehehe, wife very kranky, and looking at getting exspensive quotes if i dont do something.

I got one state right, yes it's the labour day long w/end.

Hill End was one place that was thrown up when deciding where we should have it, Yango was another but the TV show Getaway are doing something there that w/end, if anyone else can think of a place within that radius 2 to 3 hrs from Sydney for this w/end chosen please feel free to nominate a desto.

Hill End, used to be a wonderful place to visit.. Used to travel up there all the time as a kid, between there and Sofala, gold panning etc. Brilliant way to grow up, out in the bush, and camping the outdoors.

But last time we went there, there was nothing there 3-4 yrs ago, even the visitors center was shut.. Is it still the same?

They had some issue's with the general store and other things but it's not to bad now the pub is going strongly NPWS seem to be doing good things there now, although the black stuff is getting closer from Bathurst and Mudgee, from the Mudgee side it's tar way past Hargraves now almost to the shire border with Evans which is not a good thing to me we have a place on the Hargraves road, tar = tourists= crap. It's still pretty good down at the river.
