Travelled the Outback Hwy June 22-
25/06/02 from
Laverton to
Alice Springs. The road is suitable for High clearance caravans. About 60 Km west of Giles the road is hard but has a high sand crown for about 20km and the same about 5km west of Giles for 4-5 km.
If you drive according to the conditions and not be in a rush you will not have any problems. Between the border and Docker River (8 km) it is a bit stoney (river stone) but the rest is like any unsealed road . We travelled at an average of 80-90km and had no problems
Have a good trip & let us know how you found it when you get back.
Regards Sylvia
