Gday longtack,

Mandrel bent is really not that much different, read the wonderful article put togeter by EO and Denco, you'll see your bends drop .25 I think and really, unless your trying to screw every last kw out, the $$$ don't justify between normal and mandrel, I think I got done another $150-200 just for mandrel.

A guy who heads out with us put a 3 inch exhaust on his turbo 80 and got about 7% gain. But we told him to get it tuned, and have the injectors done, and he came back with 15%, which is a pretty good result for about $1200. In all honesty, I'm sure he just pushed it harder, but definitely better, smoother and cleaner rev through to redline with no hesitation. Oh yeah, and it sounded pretty good too.

Cheers

Chris.

80 series turbo, can't tell exact number, but I definately have a much smoother rev through the range and willingness to rev out to redline than it had before. Runs with just one straight through sport muffler in the centre and sounds great. Definately not loud, just throatier. Getting dynotuned in 2 weeks along with pump freshen up. Looking forward to a few more herbs. 3" mandrel bent right through including the 3" expansion joint cost me $450 fitted.

not the best bang for buck option to run, but a slight improvement in performance may be noticed, and you will need to change the exhaust flange on the turbo as well, I think, to have a full 3" system.

Gday APS make (or used to) a complete system for the t/d that is 3 inch and mandrel...bythe time u replace yours with a custom 3 inch mandrel system, it will be as much as this system. I would not worry about either personally, just remove the round muffler back to the tail resenator, and run a straight through 2.5 inch muffler and tail pipe. This will be noisier than now, and give you better throttle response from the turbo spooling quicker due to more pressue differential over the turbine. You will get better milage aswell.
Now if you owned a petrol........(best bang for buck) you would still have 10k in the pocket...to pay for petrol.

You could try removing the three mufflers and making a new tail pipe so that it is the same size from front to back and that works well for me. In NZ turbo trucks do not need mufflers as long as they do not exeed the noise levels
The fuel has also been increased slightly.
