matson dual battery system

any one had any problems with matson dual battery systems ,already in car when bought .regulator has packed in and completly discharged spare battery.auto sparky hopes battery will come back and will fit new solenoid with battery cable thick wireing instead of the thin wire that is used.car is 02 gu 3ltd.
