Hardo

Hi all
For those that change their own engine oil, what oil do you use for Nissan 3Ltr TD?

Thanks
Hardo

Hardo,
I change oil & filter in mine every 5000k's using Nissan Diesel Oil and nissan filter.
Whtever oil you decide to use, makesure it meets Nissan specs. Check your vehicle handbook. Never use APIC-G4

Castrol GTX3, economical, easy to find, meets specs (15W40 CF). Up to a year ago it was on the recommended list at the Castrol web site but was replaced by a later released oil, still OK by them though (I checked). As (unfortunately) most of my daily use is urban, I change at 5K.

Strongly recommend to use 10w30 or 5w30 SL.
Change every 5000 km.

Not sure they meet the spec. From memory I thought it was a 15-40 viscosity.

Your owners manual states the grade oil you should use for the given temperature you will expect to operate in. It also states a recommended grade for best fuel economy which will be the lighter grade oil but this oil will be no good if you operate in the desert.

The manual states:
For cold area's 15w30 is preferable (+/-20 degC)
5w30 for below zero

I personally use a 15w40
