Glenn, I've got an ipaq 2210, and a hp nx9000 laptop. I run Ozi on both the Laptop and the PDA. I bought a "Haicom" brand compact flash
GPS from Johnny appleseed in St kilda. About $230 from memory. Plugs staight into the top of the PDA and all maps are stored on a 1 Gig SD card. Currently have Vicroads, Melways and most of Vic 1:25,000 series, Aust Natmap 1:250,000. ( uses about 600Meg OZF format.)
For the Laptop, I've got a PCMCIA to CF adapter card,
GPS slots into side of Laptop, then an Extention lead to an external
GPS antenna mounted on the top of the
snorkel. Also run Co-pilot live laptop 7 on the laptop. Runs on a 7 " touchscreen in the Cruiser.
All works well, but be careful with the PDA choice, Guy at work bought a hP ipaq 4150, only has SD slot - no CF slot. He bought a SD slot
GPS - but where is he gunna store his maps?
East set up, the
gPS comes with a mini CD for set up, called
GPS info, Just laod software, choose Com ports in the setup, choose Generic
GPS NMEA output in Ozi, and away you go...
Welcome to look at the set up if you in Melb area and cant make up your mind....
Jarrod.
