Coburg Peninsular - Gurig National Park

I intend doing a trip through to Coburg/Gurig area and was wondering how it rates compared to the Gove area in Arnhem Land. Reason being is that the permit required to access Coburg sets you back approx $250, whereas Gove is significantly less. Is Coburg worth it?

Mate - I have not been to Gove so cannot give you a definitive answer. However, we went to Gurig in 1999, and it was magic - one of the highlights of a round oz trip.

One of the great things is that they limit the number of vehicles to about 16 at a time, and they are spread over two camp grounds, so you feel really like you are out on your own.

At the same time, the boat trip to Victoria Settlement for $100 a head or so is worth the cost, as you see a bit of pioneering history and some lovely scenery. Lots to see driving around the Panninsula too.

Id go again!
