If its a two round headlight 60 then a standard set of H4 insert lights to replace the sealed beams. Hella and IPF make them (as well as some cheapies). You then put in the H4 bulb of your choice. Gives much better light. You

From memory, Narva also make a set. I used Narvas in a square (dual) headlight late 60 series. Check prices - I found Autobarn a lot cheaper than Repco and others. There is then a wide choice of globes you can use for even better light and still remain legal. Cheers, Cruiser

I just did such an upgrade on my '86 FJ 60 last week. The Narvas set you back about $140 a pair, which was too much for my budget, so I fitted aftermarket clones for $65 a pair. Add to that the cost of bulbs. For me, a total investment of $73 got me a decent pair of headlights with 80/100 bulbs. These fittings just screw right in under the existing retaining rings. I don't use the park bulbs in the reflectors, so you just leave them as they are.

I did the same upgrade on my HJ61 earlier this year. I bought Hella inserts and new globes. I also bought a new aftermarket wiring loom with relays (ARB). I first installed the new lights and noticed a fair improvement without the loom. When I installed the loom the low beam got a bit brighter but the high beam was heaps brighter. I also have two 100 watt cibies on the front which used to contrast greatly with the old high beam. Now days they just compliment it making night driving very pleasant and safe.

We had an '84 60 series, and added higher wattage globes, it's the cheapest way to stuff up your high/low beam switch. Replacement switch loom are close to $300. Get a heavy Duty wiring loom from either ARB or Piranha first, then add the good globes and inserts. Understand that the higher wattage globes will deteriorate the original inserts. Worth the money if you do heaps of night work.
