Anyone looking for company on crossing some time end June/ early July 2001?
Seems that all the other "would like tos" are unable to make it !
or is it all ok on your own?
Have HF Transceiver, 145 lit tanks 80series Toyo etc. Any one got any ideas? From East or West doesnt bother as far as plans go.

Stephen,How experienced are you in the your 4WDing. We have crossed the desert solo. Remember that you will not really be alone at this time of the year as there will certainly be numerous groups heading across. This does not mean that you should rely on someone else assisting you if you get into trouble. If you make sure you have the right experience and the correct recovery gear (HF is a great) you should not have to much trouble. Hopefully someone will line up with your plans and you can go in a group - This may be the best as the group camp fire experience can be great. Good luck in your plans but dont miss just because the would like tos are going.Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Stephen - well be leaving Birdsville early Wednesday July 4 in two cars. Will spend Wednesday night with a bottle of red and the Phantom Of The Opera playing somewhere in the middle.

Hi Stephen,
Itinery #496 has us in Birdsville on the afternoon of Tuesday July 3 so a shower and beer at the pub will be the order of the night.
Im surprised there are not more people heading out - do they know something we dont or dont they like my choice of music - red wine or what ever?

A bit of a worry, you guys are really burning it up, but I reckon that its odds on that we will catch up with you at the Pub that evening, but we may have been there for a couple of days before, just to make sure the beer is a ok, and that mum has had a wine or two!

Keep the contact! (what did we do before teh NET?)

If it isnt the wine or music then maybe everyone should know there is a full moon on July 6. I can feel the hair starting to grow! The Simpson by moonlight - maybe a few others will turn up.

Hi Stephen,
I wonder if anyone actually reads these or do they just stand by for the entertainment?
The news on the crossing only gets worse. Not only is there a full moon on the 6th there is a partial eclipse at 11.35 on the 5th which should be interesting.

Well it looks like a few 2 bottle nights at least are in store, you can have your Chateau Dalhousie , ill stick to the Bin 407! Seriously though as long as the dingos stay around your tent i wont worry- I have an Aussie Traveller roof top special which is dingo and croc proof!
As for any one reading this, well lets get real, very few know of the real delights of the outback, and only a few of the real people will make it!

Cant wait to get out- Mungo NP Via Wilcannia to Mootwinji, Fowlers Gap, Tiboobura, Innamincka, Bville etc. We have stayed at the caravan park in the past with Ian Doyle as host - got rained in there a couple of years ago - he makes a good toasted sandwich! Cant remember if the beer was as cold at the pub as they make out so must confess I am not able to advise on that one, give a few weeks and i reckon i will be able to further advise!

You should have the VKS 737 radio frequencies in your HF radio and be a member of the VKS network. This will give you contact with a lot of people travelling the outback. Also UHF radios are used in the simpson on channel 10 for coms so that you know where other travellors are etc
