G'day Ian, I don't use anything else but spilts with roadgrippers on my hilux, all high country work, just about any tyre dealer will have 2nd hand 'new' roadgrippers in stock from new vehicles, I purchased a full set of 5 splits and tyres for $400 about 12 mths ago, all brand new straight of a new hilux at my local trye dealer. The trading post is another good source if you are in Melbourne, The only other trye I would look at is in the Cooper range, but I'm quite happy with the grippers for any sort of work I do. .......Les

Ian...I agree with Les...I reckon if you have a chat to your local tyre bloke, you should come out of it ok. I recently bought a couple of Grippers for spares with split rims for around the $55 each, I was happy enough with that. Fair bit of meat on em too. I always buy my tyres from this bloke, I have tractors , 5 cars and utes and serveral others bits and pieces, so I think he looks after me, but compared to new the price was good. He made a little comment about Grippers which I thought was interesting, (this fella has been in the job a long time) e said, that the grippers the come with the hilux as standard are a real good jigger, but the ones made ere in oz, aren,t that flash, and pobably not worth having. Les, if Dunlop Road Grippers are not the worst tyre ever invented, I dont know what is? Personally I think it's a disgrace that such good 4wds like Toyota come out with them from the factory.
