Hi EO experts!
We have a curent model pajero with crap geolander HT tyres, 265/70/16, on mitsi mag wheels, and are looking at fitting a set of 265/75/16 BFG AT's, on a set of steel rims.
First question, what rims will fit pajero with right offset, $304 each from mitsi for originals, and has anyone got this combination, or any other relevent info would be welcome.
Cheapest place to get BFG's in Adelaide would be good also.
Anyone got a set of mitsi steel rims for sale?

Cheers

Change to the Geolander A/T 11 tyres in 265.75, thay will give you a better run than the HT and a lot cheaper than BFG's.

My best price for BFG's was Seaton Tyre Store, Port Rd - 83453672 ($272 for the 245/70R16, balanced and fitted). You may find that you can't get them in your size at present.

These 70 series tyres must be real popular.Kind of makes sense when they are the only ones making LT's in 70 series. As you know I couldnt get 265's last year and a bloke somewhere else cant get 275's for his cruiser at the moment.

Pesty,

If you dont care about the width off the rim, you can fit the 16x6 steels which are standard on the GL and GLX, NM only I think. These are fitted with P235/80/16 standard. You can then fit LT245/75/16 to these, not what you asked but can be done.
Tyrepower Blackwood did have a set of these rims for $100 each, last year.
When I shopped around last year I found Tyrepower Brighton to be the cheapest over the phone for BFG's, however others did match, my part of town prices only.

Any particular reason for going to steel rims?

After a trip from Adelaide to Perth and back and Melb. then to Sydney and back to Adelaide, no probs, but 1/2 day on gravel and 1 new geolander stuffed with star fracture, then went to use beadbreaker on mag and besides easy damage to mag with tyre levers, the hole in the middle isnt big enough to fit the beadbreaker in so decided to use steels for bush work and mags and HT's for home work.

Pesty,
From what I understand the hole in the middle of the rim will be the same size on the steel rims as the alloys. This is because the hole is a snug fit over the shoulder of the hub and this is where most of the weight is supported. If the hole is too large (wrong brand of wheel for instance) then the entire weight is supported on the wheel studs. Could lead to broken studs or even a wheel coming off.

Anyone else care to comment?? Confirm if this is true??

An alternative is to use this method to get the tyre off.

Cheers, John.

Thanks John, tyrepliers got it off too, and not sure about wheels yet havent seen them, but hole in middle of paj mag is only about 1/14 inches, so i doubt it is supported in the middle on that, but will have a look at wheels available, as they say they are for that model pajero!

Mate, I have an NM so I know what you're talking about. Rest assured the centre hole fits over the boss on the hub and is the weight bearing part of the wheel. The studs just keep it on. (much simplified explanation!!)

Since posting we have found 265/75/16 BFG's at Gawler for $245, and new steel wheels from 2 places for chevoit $100 and speedie $105 in white , so we will repaint them in a more appropriate colour.
Dont think this price will be easy to beat!
