Packing for the Kimberly

Submitted: Sunday, Apr 03, 2005 at 14:07

We leave in three weeks for a four month Wa and Kimberly trip. I've spent this morning making PILES of stuff that I think should be packed for the trip. My question is if you were going on a trip like this what would be the single most luxury item that you couldn't go without???

Seriously I agree with Ray. Poor sleeping makes any trip into an ordeal rather than fun. A good cooler/fridge will also help keep temps down. No matter what you take, you will leave some essential behind or wish that you had. Every trip is different.

As mentioned a good mattress, a fridge and I would also place "a chair comfortable enought to fall asleep in" at the top of my list.
Have a great trip

Whatever you would narmally take on such a trip.

As for essential......Water. Not one container for all of your water, cos if it gets a leak or becomes contaminated, your stuffed.

And yes, secondly, a comfy bed.

My petite figure at just under a 100Kg is giving me grief.

I am considering vassing up my inner thighs just to redude the friction when I walk. It cant be seen to the untrained eye, but my Mrs. has noticed that I walk with my feet a little wider apart than nessesary.

Jim-bob to me now means Gym-Bob. :-)

Thanks everyone. We've been planning this trip for years and very seriously over the past six months. Now that we are on the final countdown I am getting a bit worried how it will fit in the car. We travelled for two years before we got married but now we are taking the two kids with us. A totally different experience, I can't wait to show them all the amazing things our country has to offer. We are buying a new mattress for the camper this week, got new chairs, a sence of humour and no real itinerary. I can't wait to go now. Tired of all the preperations. Just want to leave!

Hi Brumac,

Will be right behind you (in July). Surprised no one mentioned a tinnie (no not a cold one). Been setting our rig up to take one. We took one to the Cape last trip and it was very useful, some of the locals took us fishing on a reef - hope someone will oblige this year.

Kind regards and safe travelling

I agree, a comfy mattress is right up there along with a fridge for whatever you drink (soft or alcoholic). BTW, according to tonights TV, there heaps of jobs going begging up there if you need some extra bucks.
Hope you enjoy it half as much as we did. Four months sounds terrific.
