Tent water proofing

Hi all,

I was asked today, which is the best tent (canvas)water proofing agent?
For the life of me I can't remember the name of a product that has been around for years and need some help in firing up the brain cells!

There are five slabs available for the correct answer.

Hi Kim,

plenty of posts on this in the past (eg #12530, #5853, #4881 etc ... do a search).

Common consensus is water is best (soak tent and let it dry out again)!

I just bought some "water proof spray" from Kookaburra to seal a small wet patch on my canvas tent. It leaked a small pool of water through one corner over the weekend with some very solid rain for a few hours straight.
The guy down the local camping shop said this stuff would work good... It appears to be silicone based...

Canvas canopy on my ute has been around a couple of years so I decided to give it some protection & used Dryseal, the gel type, which I just brushed on without spillage. Seems to work a treat leaving a shiny waxed look on which the rain beads up & runs off.
Easy to apply & brand been around for years.

Now that you've heard about the rest, try the best.....
Thompson's Water Seal. Very expensive but, an excellent product.
5L around $56.
