Can anyone give me any reports on these tyres please. I am currently in Perth on holiday and looking at replacing my BFG A/T's. No one seems to know anything about these and whilst they look great I need to know more before shelling out $300 each tyre.
Yours in anticipation

I've been researching tyres for the last year and the MT/R was one that I had considered earlier but subsequently ruled out. My investigations revealed that owners had commented that they were noisey on road but worked very well in the mud and rocks, which made the noise factor "livable". They are reputed to have very strong shoulder and sidewall strength which is designed to keep the sidewall upright to avoid penetrations. This could mean they would also be firm riding too. You can't have it both ways. List price was $300 and I would not pay that for them, however a bulk tyre dealer quoted me $268ea, they are pretty keen to get them out on to the market, eager to break the stranglehold that BFG and Cooper have on the market. It is too early to comment on the wear factor.

$298 each I was quoted today but I figured there was a bargaining factor given that there's none yet available in Perth and mine would be ordered.
Noise factor doesn't bother me. It's sidewall strength that I'm after with traction an obvious factor also. I have a set of BFG A/T's that are 30k old and look like they've had their day already. One blew out on the way down from Port Hedland and another has slits galore and destined for the same thing.
My other alternative is Cooper's and the most likely path at this stage but if the right info and deal comes my way then I may just try these out.
Thanks for your help thus far Desert

Question, are they the new BFG AT KO's??? and what size?

MANY in our club, have over 75,000-90,000 out of BFG AT's the pre-KO ones.

Just curious thats all!

Truckster - wait on I'll just come down from my mountain !

Twice thru GRR & Kalumburu, Rudall River NP, Carawine Gorge, Karajini via back tracks and numerous other trips throughout Pilbara but I still don't think it's good enough. Tread is ordinary to say the least and sidewalls are knackered and somewhat dangerous.
Yes they are the new AT KO's and hopefully I can get a few years out of the 3 that I have left when I put them on my trailer. Sincerely doubt that I will be buying them again, well not unless the alternatives fail me also.

Ahh.. Another new BFG bites the dust... They just dont make em the way they used to eh!

Try the Coopers ST's, I think you will be impressed. The MTR are good, and I will 99% get them as my next road tires, and just keep the Baja Claws for weekends!

$300ea? What you going for 35's or 37's or something. Ive heard of 35's going for $275ea NEW.

Theres nothign but 10/10 reports on Patrol list, and Melbourne list on them... Excellent all rounder more along the lines of the BFG MT than AT.

Coopers ST would be more along the line of the bfg AT.

to add something to their defence I have done GRR/Kalumburu twice, been to Rudall River and a whole heap of places in the Pilbara but I did expect better from them. Mine are cut to shreds on the tread (including the spare which has only done about 2000 km's and the sidewalls look like kids have been slashing them every night for a week. Too dangerous now and I blew one out last week so have no alternative but to replace them. Was looking at BFG M/T's but they don't really suit my purpose until I buy that second set of rims & tyres as I have so many highway miles to cover. Plus there's the once bitten, twice shy factor.

I concur that the current crop of BFG's are not up to scratch anymore. The KO series are just not giving the service that the superceeded one's used too. Friends of mine agree. This partly explains the increasing swing to Coopers, I think. Have a look at the Kelly Springfield range. Again, they are sourced from USA, are 8ply rating in 265/75x16, load range D. Very, very tough in the sidewalls and are $50 per tyre cheaper than Coopers. They offer a road orientated boot called the AWR, an in between mud and highway called the MSR and also a dedicated mud terrain pattern. The MSR's have a full 14.2mm deep tread block, which is deeper than Coopers, so they should wear very well. So far, I can't complain they are going well.
Cheers, desert.

Thank you all and thanks for the link Truckster.
I've had a good look at the Wrangler MT/R today and have ordered a set of 285/75R16's. The tread pattern looks exactly like what I am after and the sidewall looks as tough as nails when not on the rim. Time will tell I suppose and perhaps the Cooper's would have been the best option but I was concerned with availability in my part of the world.
I've been a BF Goodrich man all my driving life and it saddens me that they couldn't live up to my expectations after such a huge initial outlay. They'll make great trailer tyres though !

Was it the comment about trailer tyres ?
Perhaps you can tell me what else I am supposed to do with 3 half worn tyres that are not much good to me. I thought it was a viable option. Thanks for your input mate.
