95 Landcruiser

Hi all,
Thinking of updating to a 95 cruiser, know of some trouble with the bottom end ie.. crank going at about 100000kms does anyone one else know of any problems with this model and what is the fuel consumption like in a diesel .l know of two people with crank problems just quering if these two are exceptions.At present have a 90 model patrol but dislike the trouble with getting parts, would like to know peoples thoughs on this vehicle and any good or bad experience's you have had. Jason, The big end problems were only with some of the early 80 series turbo's, a dicky bunch of bearings. By 95 think all problems were ironed out. We have a 97 turbo, which has 189000 clicks, and no dramas except for a rebuilt injector pump. Our roads are s'house, by most peoples standards, and it is holding up pretty well. It better, I want to go touring when we retire! Work on 7 km/L economy, travelling from Winton area to Brisbane or Mt Isa, and up to 9km/L round Brissy. if you get a turbo, put a 3" exhaust on it, worth very $. Long range tank is good too, get from here to Toowoomba without refueling - 1450 km. plenty of AM gear for them too. Regards....

Hi Truckster, Sorry for the late response, but l dont get a chance to log on as often as l like, trying to buy a kit for my brake master cylinder but aparently they dont do them any more and you need to replace the whole unitwith a new one but that isn't the reason l was thinking of going to up gradeto acruiser , l currently have a short wheel base and with the family growing it's getting to small for us to go away in, l will be sorry to sell it as it has been a great vehicle and very reliable but a bit thirsty in the fuel department, as they all are.

Jason - I have a 96 Diesel with 165 000 km's on clock. Absolutely no dramas at all other than a mechanic who failed to grease wheel bearings. Highly recommend it but the GQ is a beauty too.
