Hi all

Wanting to buy maps, know you can buy paper, but i want the digital ones, Live in vic can you get 1:25000 of all of vic?
Can you get 1:25000 of Australia:
What i really want is a map that has the track detail of a 1:25000, but at any scale. Its all about the roads.

You said you had heaps of states on SD, with all 4WD tracks. You have to use a magellan product to upload maps yeah, what maps do you have. Are they map send Oz. Saw them at a show once, didn't find them that impressive, maybe just looking in wrong place

I have a large collection of digital maps from topo maps to street level of all of Victoria and N.S.W; and always looking to add to it.

The mapping for the actual GPS units is extortionate in price, cannot be updated or modified by you etc. This is the same for all GPS mapping units like Magellan, Garmin, Holux, Trimble etc. etc.

Benna, yes I use Magellan mapsend for the Meridian Platinum I have. Currently I have Vic, NSW, ACT and QLD on one 64Mb SD card which is almost full. To cover the rest of Oz I'll have to get another SD card.
The detail on Mapsend isn't as good as a good topographic map but it is suprising just how much info they have non the less. As an example when driving home on some country roads it even shows the driveways to a number of homes as I pass them.
When I am able, I will get ozie explorer and a laptop for more detailed mapping.

I am not aware that the 1:25,000 scale maps are available commercially. The add for the NatMap 1:250,000 series is to the right of this box. http://www.exploroz.com.au/Shop/DisplayItems.asp?ItemID=172
You may find that someone has scanned and uploaded the series you require to the OziExplorer site.

The CFA maps available from the local regional CFA office which are 1:100,000 are the best Victorian maps available. The North East Region of Victoria is Region 23 & 24, and the CFA office is in Wodonga. The region 23 & 24 maps books are $44.00. They are a wire spiral bind that can be folded back, and come in a good quality see thru envelope so you can see the map and keep it protected. The CFA do not sell the digital maps for some crazy bizarre reason, but of course you can scan them and calibrate them easily.
