Holden Rodeo tyre choices

Here is a bad blue by Holden, there are only about 4 choices of tyre that fit LEGALLY to the new Rodeos (at least in Qld).

The BFG AT, a Continental AT, the original Bridgestone AT (a truly terrible tyre) and another all bitumen type of tyre.

The LOAD rating is where the bad judgement has been made, plenty of choices of tyres in the right size, but Holden have specified a weird load rating which drops the choices to the few above.

You'll find that with a lot of new fourbys. Especially ones with factory mags.

Yup welcome to the club. Hilux is just as bad. Thankfully the range has increased as from memory only the Goodyear ATR was available as a legal alternative. Then they changed from individual tyre load rating to Axle load rating which opened up the options to Coopers / BFG / Bridgies etc.

So suss out the concept of Axle load ratings. something like 1500kg per axle or something. It should be stamped on your tyre placard in drivers door jam. Tyre guys at 4'bys Moorooka said you can use either as the minimum.

You are limited by load index can NOT go below that limit which normally is max load carry capacity. Can go below speed index because usualy vehicle has a speed index lower than tyre placard of possable (L) 120kms hr
