Birdsville trip 2001

I am planning a trip to the Birdsville races next year. From Brisbane via Charleville & back via Innaminca Thargaminda etc.
Can anyone advise me of interesting things to see/do on the way out /back. I am more interested in historic aspects & 4wd tracks.

Our 4wd club did a trip to the Corner Country in July 1999.Are you planning to spend some time out there exploring the area? If so obtain a copy of Discover Aust. 4wd by Hema Maps. Hope you are still planning your trip to the Birdsville Races this year on 30 August and 1 September 2001. For information contact the Wirrarri Information Centre on (07) 46563300 and Fax: (07) 46563302 - they will send you lots of information - mention that you are interested in historical info. and the route you wish to travel because they cover other areas as well.
