LC gearbox oil

I've recently tried Mobil 424 in the 80 series which now drives like it's got a new gearbox. Smooth changes, no more crunching on down shifts. It's marketed as a tractor transmission fluid but works wonders helping the syncro's engage smoothly.

G'day Davoe
No it's not an ATF fluid it's a multipurpose tractor and heavy machinery drive train oil but can also be used in gearbox's requiring an API GL-4 or SAE 80W lubricant. We've used it in many vehicles at work to overcome gear shifting problems with good results

My workshop uses it in all LC gearbox's and have for awhile.
We have also used it in front wheel drive gearbox's for years. Great oil with great results.

Hi Davoe
424 is a trans oil for the bigger autos as in machinery. it is used in a lot of european boxs that do not require dextron based oil
Your LC gearbox should have 75w80 gear oil. If the oil you have in now is a diff it has an extreme pressure additive and this stops the syncros engaging.
You may need to change the oil a couple of times to get all the additive out
