spare tire carrier

G'Day all, I would just like to know what problems may have been posed and how ppl rectified it when fitting a larger tire on the same mount as the oem on the rear door. The other day I made a post about myself owning a 120 series prado and upgrading from oem 265/70R17 tires to 275/70R17 which at this stage am purchasing in Cooper ATR's. So does anyone have any idea on how this may pose mounting issues on rear door?.. or is rear door out of the question (ie. hinges etc)

thanx again

Nick

Nick,

On the 120 Prado you will have to remove the spare wheel carrier bracket on the back door and buy some longer bolts and then put some spacers roughly 1/2 inch thick between the carrier and the door, then you will have no problems. Otherwise the tyre will ruib on the paintwork of the door. You may also need to remove and throw away the plastic protector behind the wheel if it still has one.
