Have you tried swapping the mike for another? If you're in a group or a club, someone else is SURE to have a GME mike to try....

Uppy, on Chrispy's suggsetyion I have in the past repaired the mike switch having found the switch worked in particular positions if that is your particular problem. I squeezed together a couple of metal plates in the microswitch with pointy nosed pliers.

If the mike is not the problem; have a good look at the 12volt feed to the raido.
Mine would recieve but not transmit due to a poor connection in the supply line.
For a radio to recieve uses very little current in comparision to when transmitting; so any poor joint will cause a volt drop and no transmitting.

Uppy, it could be my dodgy soldering on that plug of yours mate, it's possible it's not contacting properly, this will still allow you to pickup relativly strong signals but if you try and trasmit with it this way you could damage the radio!
Id the radio actually displaying on the screen that's it's transmiting or is it just locked out alltogether?

There is a known fault on 3200 mikes due to a rather ordinary bit of design work by GME in my opinion.
I have repaired at least half a dozen now - including on on a very greatfull owner's brand new one at
Well 12 on the CSR!
The mechanical load of the press to talk action is transferred to the switch pins where they are soldered into the pcb in the mike. These develop fatigue and the result is either intermittent tx or no tx when the mike button is pressed.
The solution is to open the mike and resolder the switch pins. The mike PTT switch has 2 pins on the case which locate the switch in the assembly process. Had these been tinned and soldered as part of the manufacturing process the problem would be far less frequent.
I know of one batch of 40 radios where 4-5 exhibited this fault. Fortunately it is an easy repair.
Most inconvenient and possibly dangerous if it fails when needed in a remote location.
But out of warranty and with comms techs being charged out at $60-100 an hour its still usually cheaper to buy a new mike if you can't fix it yourself.
Regards
Dave
Former Comms Tech now retrained as a Paramedic - a change is as good as a holiday ... or something like that. Seemed like a good idea at the time - and it was.
