upgrade Hilux

Twinkles

I have a Hilux, 2000, SR5 dual cab, 3 ltr turbo diesel. I want to improve the off road and towing performance of the vehicle. I am considering an air locker for the front diff, new suspension all round and a diesel performance plug in chip.
I would like other peoples advice on products to satisfy these options.
The car has done 170,000 kms. I have had it from 43,000. I'm happy with the car for road use, but find the IFS limiting off road. I considered a newer car, but think it would be more economical to spent 5 or 6 thousand on this than buy something newer.
Has anyone purchased a chip from the USA. They are 1/3 to 1/2 the price over there, even after converting from US dollars.

Look under the Toyota section .Ultimately, your vehicle with a solid axle front end from an earlier Hilux,TD power with better wheel travel. Its been done heaps of times.

G'day Twinkles,

I have a 2003 lux same as yours with twin air lockers. I can tell you that the difference in offroad ability is unbelievable. I usually only use the rear locker and have only used the front on a couple of occasions (practice really). I would strongly recommend them but mind you, it is an expensive exercise.
As for the power increase for towing, I have not had a problem with mine with camper trailers and boats etc. Although I have been told that the safari chos work well along with the other ones on the market. I would suggest though that you have everything checked to ensure that it is operating at its peak to start with.

Regards
