I have an 84 Rodeo ute with a 2.4 Isuzu petrol motor. I have to replace the head gasket. I have removed the inlet and exhuast manifolds and wish to remove the head without disturbing the timing chain. Does anyone no if this is possibe and if so how. Any advice would be appreciated

replied: Years ago i did an old gemini head and a Sigma head and though it was a bit fiddley I was able to suspend the chain and timing gear by unbolting the gear and sliding it off the camshaft while keeping tension on the gear/chain. I would then tie it up with good string/wire from the open bonnet. Losen head and lift it up and to side while keeping tension on string and re-tie back to bonnet once it is out the way.
Not easy but it worked
