Inverter in a GU

Hi all,
Where have people installed inverters in their GU wagons?
I have a 300W inverter and was thinking that in the cavity above the glove box might be a good spot, then run a short lead to somewhere accessible.
Would it be too hot?
I have an old fan out of a computer power supply which i could put with it for cooling, might this overcome the possible cooling problem?

Also meant to say that there is a 1" or 1.25" round tube in there that will make it easy to mount your invertor to. Hope this helps?

Thinking of doing the same thing. Any hints on getting the dash pannel(s) off and on again - my record for interior bits and pieces that snap together isn't good. Also, any hints on removing the panel which hides the drivers side seatbelt retractor mechanism, I have a rattle in there which isnt very loud bud drives me insane sometimes....

Andrew, remove the glove box and you will find 6 screws hold the panel on, pretty easy to get it off. I presume you don't have an air bag in the LHS? Don't know about the panel for the seat belt, sorry.

In case you have an air bag in the left side as I have put the inverter behind one of the rear seats. I placed mine on the back of the drawers.
I have also seen some mount it on the cargo barrier. In all cases make sure you have a heavy lead to the inverter straight from the batt for both positive and negative wires, placing an inline fuse in the positive lead.

Hi all, an update.....
attached the inverter and cooling fan to some flat iron and rivetted it to that bar behind the dash.
Next job is to put a plug in the cabin and wire up a relay and switch so I can turn it off after i connect it to the battery.
Should be a pretty tidy job once i finish.
