G'day Toohey,
Where was you EGT measured? If it's in the dump pipe I'd be saying "oh chit, that's too hot".
Glad you had a good quick trip.
Cheers

Roachie's right, if it's measured post turbo then there's some pretty serious temps there. Do the Navara's run the same variable vane turbo as the Patrol's do? Perhaps the opening and constricting of the variable vane adds to the exhaust temps. It would be interesting to see what other 3.0 Nissans are getting with EGT's and whether these temps are the norm.

Toohey,

The turbo fitted to Navara ZD30 is the conventional waste gate type and not Variable Vane as in ZD30 Y61.

When you stated "the probe is in the exhaust manifold just before the turbo, according to nissan melb", what did you mean by that ?

cheers

Cheers Toohey,
Thanks for sharing your info. Your boost sounds about right and compared to my "Post" turbo pyro your temps are ok also. As Roachie says, there's about 150degC difference between pre and post pyro's, so that would equate to 500C in my case, but I haven't got there yet.

Without giving to much away I can 110% guarantee the the Turbo fitted to your ZD30 Navara is not Varaible Vane.

That's interesting Sevo. Do you know if the Navara has the same electronic controls the Patrols use? We don't seem to hear of the same problems with the Navara vs the GU 3 litre trucks.
